Treatment options:

Medications known retinoids, antibiotics, azelaic acid and birth control pills are all options available for acne treatment. Some of these treatments are covered by insurance.

The most severe cases are resolved with Accutane, which is a 5-month course that is considered the most effective treatment available. High intensity blue-light devices are available with our without the combination of ALA (aminolevulanic acid) to kill bacteria responsible for acne. This treatment is referred to as photodynamic therapy.
