As the first clinic in Minnesota to offer Artefill, we are excited to share this treatment option with you. A skin test is administered 28 days prior to treatment and is available to you at your convenience.
If you are new to dermal fillers altogether, we encourage temporary dermal filler prior to treatment of Artefill. It is your opportunity to experience an augmentation that will increase your confidence and expectation for Artefill.
What is Artefill?
Artefill is made up of 80% collagen and 20% PMMA, (polymethylmethacrylate) an inert plastic implant which is the most widely used artificial material in medicine today. Perfectly round spheres of PMMA are evenly suspended in a collagen solution. While the collagen produces an immediate result, it will eventually be absorbed into the body. The PMMA microspheres then provide the permanent support your skin needs for enduring correction.
A skin test must be administered 4 weeks prior to your first treatment of Artefill to screen for any allergies to bovine collagen.
Where is Artefill injected?
Currently, the smile lines or nasolabial folds (the deep lines that run from the nose down to the corners of the mouth) are indicated for treatment. Artefill is also used as a lip border enhancement. Soft atrophic and acne scars as well as other imperfections in the skin benefit from Artefill treatments as well.
