Votes Have Been Cast, Evolence Stays On The Island

Florida doctor (and Survivor contestant) Dr. Sean Kenniff recently reported about Evolence for the Miami CBS affiliate, explaining its benefits over other dermal fillers. Dr. Kenniff is trained in neurology, biology and spokesman for non-profit brain tumor research organization, The Four Foundation. He got voted off the island, but that doesn’t mean we can’t take his advice about Evolence.
Kenniff talks dermal fillers with dermatologist Dr. Mark Steven Nestor, explaining just one of the popular remedies that Evolence can perform - hiding those pesky “laugh lines.” You might also call them “parentheses”; the indentations on each side of your mouth from smiling and laughing (or scowling) all those years. Dr. Nestor says they happen because of a combination of facial fat loss and skin that is “more lax.”
Dermal fillers are the best remedy for such issues and Evolence is one that provides a long lasting effect. The main structural component of Evolence is “purified porcine collagen” and with the company’s high-tech “cross linking” process, the natural sugar D-Ribose gets added to increase longevity and consistency.
We’ve got Evolence in the office now, and Dr. Carney was one of the first dermatologists in the US to be trained with it. Several of the staff have had Evolence treatment now too, so ask us about our experience with it, we’re happy to share.
American ArteFill is Just as Effective, More Uniform, Safer

One year ago, Indiana surgeon Mark Hamilton had doubts about the quality of the dermal filler ArteFill. Now, according to a story by the local Indianapolis CBS news affiliate, Hamilton has renewed confidence in the product and has begun using it in his practice.
ArteFill is manufactured with bovine collagen (from a cow) and very small spheres, also known as “microspheres”, made of special plastic. These ingredients are supposed to give ArteFill a superior chemical structure, making it last much longer than other fillers. In some cases, the effects of ArteFill can last as long as 5 years.
The problems Dr. Hamilton observed last year were related to consistency. He was concerned about a certain irregularity in the micro-spheres and some loose particles present in the product. To prevent any possibility of an adverse patient reaction, he chose to recommend other fillers to his patients.
Fast forward to 2008 and the doc says that the latest version of ArteFill on the American market is here and contains none of the observable inconsistency he once observed. The new ArteFill is very uniform and the likelihood of finding loose particles has been reduced substantially. Dr. Hamilton now administers the drug in his practice on a regular basis.
With ArteFill’s long lasting effect and comparable safety profile, it should rest high on the list of considerations for those interested in volumizing and rejuvenating their skin with the help of a dermal filler.

Inc.’s editor says, “if you want to find out which companies are going to change the world, look at the Inc. 500.” It seems they are poised to take even more control of the market this year when Reliant merges with Thermage Inc., a company that offers different skin rejuvenation technology.
Reliant Tech, maker of Fraxel laser systems ranked 157th on Inc. Magazine’s list of fastest growing companies. In the list of health industry companies, Reliant ranked 8th. Their laser treatments are designed to tighten, resurface and rejuvenate skin.
Fraxel lasers have become the standard in the non-invasive cosmetics market. Sales have increased almost 1500 percent in the past three years, allowing them to fund more research and development. In the magazine’s profile of Reliant Tech, one noteworthy attribute was cited - 16 percent of sales went to R&D this year; twice the industry average.
The magazine also explained the innovative technology that has helped grow Reliant into a successful American company; “the unique fractional technology creates millions of micro lesions on the face, leaving the surrounding tissue unaffected and allowing the skin to heal much faster than if the entire face were treated at once.”
Skin Speaks offers both Thermage for skin tightening and Fraxel laser resurfacing at our Burnsville medical spa.

More men now having eyelid surgery

Cosmetic surgery isn’t just for women anymore. In fact, a recent report said the number of men getting eyelid surgery, or blepharoplasty, has skyrocketed over the last few years. With age, your eyes can start to take on a tired appearance as undereye bags develop. Eyelid surgery restores the firm, youthful appearance of your eyes.
According to a recent study, undereye bags are the result of fluid buildup or sagging skin under the eyes. They are caused by excess fat being deposited around the lower lid as we age. Interestingly, fat elsewhere in the face is lost during aging.
During blepharoplasty, the surgeon removes this excess fat under the eyes. Dr. Carney also likes to follow up the surgery with a skin tightening procedure or chemical peel to give the best possible results.
