Kelsey Thompson, PA-C, MPAS

Kelsey Thompson, PA-C, MPAS, is a Certified Physician Assistant, who joined Advancements in Dermatology in July, 2011. She attended the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, where she earned a Bachelor Degree in Science & Kinesiology. She then completed her Master’s Degree in Science & Physician Assistant Studies at Augsburg College in Minneapolis, MN, May of 2010.

Kelsey learned early on in her medical training, that she had a strong passion for dermatology.  She enjoys both the medical & cosmetic aspects of the specialty and loves the hands on surgical procedures. To gain general experience in medicine, Kelsey’s career path led her to work in the Emergency Room and then at a Family Medicine practice, both while exploring life in Colorado. Kelsey practiced for a year in these fields, before she moved back home to Minnesota, when she joined our practice.

Through her experience in both medical settings, Kelsey gained much experience in suturing and was exposed to several dermatologic conditions.  In addition to her experience with Dermatology in Primary Care, Kelsey received an intensive three month training with Dr. Patrick Carney.

Kelsey is licensed by the Minnesota State Medical Board and certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. She is an active member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants, the Minnesota Academy of Physician Assistants, and the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants.

Outside of dermatology, Kelsey enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She is an avid runner and likes to be active and outdoors. She also loves fashion and shopping. One of Kelsey’s favorite quotes, and a motto she strives to live by is: "Love begins with a smile, grows with a kiss, and ends with a tear. When you were born, you were crying and everyone around you was smiling. Live your life so that when you die, you're the one smiling and everyone around you is crying."
