The substance in Lipodissolve is called Phosphatidycholine, which is derived from soybeans and is a naturally occurring phospholipid in your body that lowers cholesterol by breaking down fat.
The procedure involves a series of injections placed directly into the fatty areas. To achieve satisfactory results, a minimum of four treatments is recommended. After the injections, you may immediately return to your normal routine. The procedure literally can be done during your lunch break (about a 30 minute session).
Lipodissolve treatments are ideal for small, localized areas of unwanted fat. Lipodissolve is also recommended with liposuction and skin tightening and toning procedures.
More about Lipodissolve:
Presently, more than 15,000 medical practitioners provide injections throughout Europe, Great Britain and South America. It is estimated that there are 500 to 1000 doctors or clinics in the United States doing this therapy.
The compounds used for lipodissolve have not been approved or laboratory tested by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for fat reduction. This means it is considered “off-label” or unregulated use. "Off-label" means that it has been approved or occurs naturally for one purpose, but doctors are using it for a different purpose. Off-label use of drugs is very common. The medical community has a history of such medication use if the off-label treatment is similar to the approved treatment.
For example, Botox cosmetic is used in several areas on the face and neck to improve the skin’s surface appearance and yet most of these areas are considered off-label treatments. Botox is approved for use between the eyebrows (glabeller) to relax the muscle activity that causes surface furrows as well as to relieve muscle spasms brought on by neurological problems. As a practical matter, often it is just too time consuming or expensive to seek approval for every indication for a product from the FDA.
What is Lipodissolve?
Lipodissolve is the trade name given to a process called injection lipolysis- a term doctors use for getting rid of body fat by injecting a chemical under the skin and around the fat cells.
What is it used for?
Phosphatidylcholine is medically proven to reduce cholesterol, increase metabolism and enhance liver and cellular functions. Physicians in many countries have used this product for the past few years as a safe alternative to surgical liposuction in fat and cellulite reduction procedures through injections, called lipodissolve.
How does lipodissolve work?
Lipodissolve has the ability to break the bonds in fat cells. The fat is dissolved into liquid and eliminated from the body.
How is Lipodissolve administered?
We treat your problem areas by injection. One treatment site (i.e. inner thighs) is injected per office visit. If multiple areas on the body are being treated, the injections will be done at separate visits.
Is lipodissolve safe?
Phosphatidylcholine is soy based and viewed as an enzyme. Like any other injectable product, it may cause side effects or allergic reactions in some people. In 8 years of daily clinical usage, adverse reactions have been extremely rare. Clinical reports from Austria give Phosphatidylcholine complete safety reports with a confirmed success rate.
Are there any other benefits with lipodissolve?
Lipodissolve injections do not destroy fat cells as with Liposuction. New or future weight gain is accumulated evenly unlike liposuction, which has been known to allow new weight gain to accumulate in another area of the body. Lipodissolve is often recommended in combination with a liposuction procedure as well as skin tightening and toning procedures to maximize results.
When will I see results?
Results are gradual. We recommend a minimum of four treatments. Treatments are scheduled four weeks apart, and with each treatment some progress should be noted. Lipodissolve also provides excellent results on cellulite and smoothes the "orange peel" effect. The results remain long term unless there is new weight gain.
What are the known side effects?
Common side effects have been localized pain or a minor burning sensation in the treatment site for a few hours, and temporary bruising. Swelling, itching and soreness may be experienced for 1-2 days as well.
Can the solution "melt" other organs?
Phosphatidylcholine has been used intravenously since the 1950’s in cardiac related illnesses to reduce cholesterol and plaque. These procedures recommend a much higher dosage than what is used in fat-dissolve procedures. There are no reports of any "melting" of organs from high dosage use of Phosphatidylcholine in the past 50 years.
Have dangerous side effects been reported from clinical use?
Patricia Rittes M.D. has performed over 26,000 clinical fat dissolve treatments and 2,000 lower eyelid (blepharoplasty) procedures since 1995 with Phosphatidylcholine. Rittes reports that during this period she has not come across one case of serious side effects apart from the known common side effects.
Are Lipodissolve injections right for me?
Lipodissolve injections have shown good results for minor to medium body sculpting of specific areas of the body like the stomach area, upper arms, thighs, chin, hips, “bra fat” and other areas. Lipodissolve has shown excellent results in smoothing and removing cellulite.
No, not with proper treatment. Injections are to be done small distances apart and in small doses per treatment. The time frame between treatments, combined with the small doses per session, provide the physician the opportunity to observe and monitor effects.
