Liposuction
Even when you exercise, eat right, and have a healthy lifestyle, do you find that there are stubborn areas of fat that will not go away?
There are many options available today including oral and injection methods to reduce and break up fat cells in our bodies, however liposuction is the proven effective option to physically remove it.
Under local anesthesia, using a Tumescent Technique, Dr. Patrick S. Carney performs liposuction on the abdomen, “love handles”, thighs, hips, buttocks, chest, neck, chin, and other difficult areas of the body.
What is liposuction?
With the Tumescent Technique, large volumes of saline solution, local anesthesia, and adrenaline are infused into the fatty area being treated to cause swelling. This enables the physician to maneuver a small instrument (cannula) connected to a vacuum, superficially under the skin. It is inserted through tiny incisions. The cannula gently moves under your skin and suctions away the unwanted fatty deposits, revealing more attractive contours.
Who is a candidate for liposuction?
The best candidates for liposuction are people whose lifestyles’ include a healthy diet, exercise, have firm, elastic skin, and have localized areas of fat that are disproportionate to the rest of their bodies. Clients with realistic expectations, are slightly to moderately overweight, and have an understanding that liposuction is not a substitute for weight loss, are very satisfied with their results.
Is the fat removal permanent?
Tumescent liposuction permanently removes fat cells and improves your body’s contour. While it is not a treatment for cellulite, many patients notice an improvement in the appearance of cellulite after liposuction. Likewise, the success of the procedure is typically measured in inches rather than pounds. Patients most frequently recognize the improved contours of their shape and increased self-image.
