Rosacea treatment

Skin Speaks combines the expertise of dermatology with the latest in cosmetic and laser treatments to provide excellent outcomes for those who suffer from rosacea.

For some, rosacea can be controlled simply with topical or systemic medications, which are made up of low doses of antibiotics and are taken long term.

Rosacea is a chronic disorder that affects the skin, usually on the face and neck. It is a difficult condition to resolve because there are so many outside influences such as stress, heat, alcohol, smoking, and sun, which may trigger a flare of the condition. Rosacea is very common and most people don't even realize that they have it.

Rosacea can disappear and reoccur, and while there are successful treatments for the condition, there is still no true cure. The face is the number one target of rosacea; however, in some rare cases the upper body may be affected. Rosacea seems to be the most common among Caucasians with fair skin (like many Minnesotans).

How does the VBeam laser treat rosacea?

The laser's energy is absorbed by the hemoglobin in blood, causing the tiny vessels that create the redness to constrict and close. These blood vessels are then absorbed into the body, restoring your natural skin color.

Four types of rosacea:

1. Vascular rosacea - characterized by flushing and redness on the nose, cheeks, forehead, and chin. The face might be slightly swollen and sensitive to certain lotions and cosmetics.

2. Inflammatory rosacea - can causes papules and pustules to appear on the face and may appear to look like acne.

3. Rhinophyma - most commonly affects men, characterized by a bulbous red nose, caused by an enlargement of the glands beneath the skin under the nose.

4. Conjunctivitis - this type of rosacea affects the eye.
